Last Saturday saw the final culmination of the JSFA Schools Football tournament that has run since early January with The Greenfields Cup Finals and Gala Awards. Held at Sekolah Tiara Bangsa-ACS for the first time, some 35 teams were represented on stage to receive cups, medals, special awards and acknowledgement for their achievements. It was yet another record setting year for this league which has steadily grown since it’s inauguration in 2006 to 43 schools, 109 teams and 1600 registered players. On Gala Day itself some 1300 players and spectators turned-up for the awards ceremony and stretched STB’S facilities to the absolute limit. As always however, the event went very smoothly, incorporating the final round of matches to reach close to 550 games in total for the season.
In the U8 Cup Final, host school STB-ACS had a comfortable victory over Sekolah Mentari to take the trophy. The U10 final was another titanic encounter between STB-ACS (a fast emerging force in the league) and Jakarta International School who drew 2-2 on the day. Following a last minute equalizer by JIS the game went to a penalty shoot-out which resulted in another cup success for STB-ACS who eventually won 4-3 in-front of a packed crowd on the touch-line.
JIS however turned their fortunes around in the U12 final with a 1-0 victory of arch-rivals British International School thereby denying the BIS team a double cup and league win after overcoming JIS the previous week in the league. Infact no team achieved the double cup and league victory this season, also a first.
In the U14 final, STB-ACS again took silverware when they downed fellow finalists SMPI Al-Azhar3-0. This was the schools third Greenfields Cup trophy on the day and a sign of things to come no doubt.
In the senior U16 final the game went right down-to-the-wire when Bina Bangsa PIK were leading 4-2 with 10 minutes to go only to see the Cup snatched from their hands by SMPI Al-Azhar with 3 goals in the last 10 minutes to run-out 5-4 winners.
The event and season was closed with the traditional kick-away of 150 league footballs much to the hysteria of the large crowd to the shouts of SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

BIS A U10 finished their league season with a solid 4-0 win against a hard working SM A team This win clinched 3rd spot for BIS and the 4th goal scored by Michael Wang was the 50th league goal of the season for the team, a fitting reward for the attacking flair shown by the team all season.
Match report U10A BIS A U10 V SBR A U10 March 14, 2009
This was the Jeremy Hillock show, in a very entertaining game both teams played good attacking football but the key difference between the two sides was the brilliant hat trick from Jeremy Hillock, the first an unstoppable free kick from 30 metres and then a solo run and shot for his second.
Match report U14A STB A U14 V BIS A U14 March 13, 2009
The day started well when we went all out to attack STB right from the start and Sami fired a shot just over the bar after 2 minutes. A couple of minutes later Josh came out for a ball at the edge of the box and the STB striker got a touch to it putting just by the left hand post.
Match report U16A BIS A U16 V JIS A U16 March 08, 2009
BIS U16A FINISH ON A HIGH WITH JIS WIN!
Despite what can best be described as an average season for BIS A, who have completed the league and cup programme with no silverware for the first time in three years, it was good to finish with a hard-fought 3-2 win of Jakarta International school played at ISCI last Sunday morning. And that with 10 players on the field due to the holiday weekend.
Match report U14B BIS BLUE U14 V LIF B U14 February 07, 2009
BIS Blue travelled to JJC to play LIF.
The game started with BIS producing the opening chance following a fine passing move, which saw Kalvin Wang shoot wide. Martin Cooper dominated and intimidated the LIF defense and could have opened the scoring on other occasions. LIF produced an opportunist goal in the 27th minute, which skidded past Alex Wilkes in the appalling conditions.
